Condit, Keene Swep Weekly NECC Awards

(Nashua, N.H.) - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced Tuesday that Daniel Webster College men’s soccer players Parker Condit of Newton, N.J. and Joe Keene of Bristol, N.H. have been named Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Condit, a sophomore back, played a lead role in two Eagles victories last week. After anchoring the defense to hold visiting Johnson State College to just four shots on goal, he headed home the game winner with five minutes remaining in overtime to top the Badgers, 1-0 on October 14th. He followed with more outstanding defensive play in helping the Eagles top Newbury College, 2-1 in an important NECC matchup on October 18th.

Keene, a freshman goalkeeper, allowed just the one goal and made a combined 11 saves over a span of 194:05 over the same two victories. He finished with four saves in the shutout win over Johnson State and added seven saves to preserve the win at Newbury.

Under the leadership of head coach Bill Lawler, the Eagles stand 8-6 overall and 3-1 in NECC play entering the final week of the regular season. The victory over Newbury clinched the program’s first post-season appearance since 2003 and only the third playoff appearance in program history. The eight victories have also tied the program high water mark for wins in a season dating back to the program’s first year of intercollegiate play in 1993, when the squad went 8-7-2.

The Eagles host Lesley University Tuesday afternoon in an important NECC matchup and close the regular season hosting Becker College on Saturday, October 25th as part of the College’s annual Parent’s Weekend activities.
