Mitchell Edges Eagles In NECC Battle, 2-0

Nashua - Joel Blancaford (Haddam, Conn.) notched two scores in the first half and the Mitchell College defense limited Daniel Webster College to two shots on goal, as the Mariners edged the Eagles, 2-0 in an important mid-season NECC clash Thursday at Eagle Field.

Blancaford scored off a James Gleason (Woodstock, Conn.) cross pass in the 9th minute and added a rebound off a corner kick in the 28th as the Mariners (6-7) moved to 3-0 in conference play, and handed the Eagles (5-6, 2-1 NECC) their first conference loss.

Andrew Hall (Natick, Mass.) made two saves in goal for the victory, while Joe Keene (Bristol, N.H.) made four saves for the Eagles.

The Eagles return to action Saturday as they host intracity rival Rivier College at 3:00 p.m. Mitchell hosts Lesley in a NECC battle at 1:00 p.m.
