Eagles Shut Out Rivier For Sixth Victory, 4-0

Nashua – Spencer Bernard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored two goals and set up another and Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio) potted two more leading the Daniel Webster College men’s soccer squad to a 4-0 shutout victory over intracity rival Rivier College before 150 patrons Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Fred Jacobs (Wrentham, Mass.) made four saves as the Eagles evened their record to 6-6 on the season, and kept the Raiders (0-11) winless. The win also marked the second highest wins total in a season for the Eagle program.

John Jarvis (St. Albans, Vt.) made five saves for Rivier.

Jackson got the Eagles going knocking in a breakaway goal off a Bernard feed 21:12 into the contest.

The Eagles pulled away with three scores in the second half.

Bernard put the hosts ahead 2-0 knocking home a Oscar Borjesson (Stockholm, Sweden) feed at the 51:26 mark and notched his second off a partial break off a Nicolas Klesh (Bedford, N.H.) feed just 1:02 later.

Jackson closed out the scoring with a 15-yarder to beat Jarvis with 9:48 remaining.

The Eagles get back to action Tuesday when they host Johnson State at 3:30 p.m.
