Becker Ends Eagles Run In NECC Semifinal

Leicester, Mass.- The Daniel Webster College men's soccer team's historic first winning season since 1993 came to an end Thursday night as second seeded Becker posted a 2-0 victory over the third seeded Eagles in the semifinals of the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference tounament.

Becker (10-8-1) will host Lesley Saturday in the title game as the fourth-seeded Lynx upset top seed Mitchell, 1-0 in the second semifinal.

Freshman Timothy Howard (Paxton, Mass.) scored the Hawks first goal when he redirected a pass from Snjezan Telebak (Chicago, IL) into the net. The Hawks made the score 2-0 when Eagle goalkeeper Joe Keene (Bristol, NH) couldn’t hold onto a shot on goal and Dircilino DeBrito (New Bedford, Mass.) tipped the rebound past the dive of Keene. Keene made four saves in a losing effort.

The Eagles finished the season with a 9-8 record, setting a new program record for victories in a season, and reached the post season for just the third time ever and first time since 2003.

Becker goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Delta, B.C) made five saves in a winning effort.
