Eagles Honored With Record Seven All Conference Selections, Lawler Named Coach of the Year

Lohr

(Nashua, N.H.) – Seven Daniel Webster College men’s soccer student-athletes have been honored with all conference selections by the New England Collegiate Conference, while Head Coach Bill Lawler has been named NECC Co-Coach of the Year.

Junior midfielder Mike Lohr of Chepachet, R.I. earned first team honors, while freshmen forwards Spencer Bernard of Windsor Locks, Conn. and Alex Jackson of Kent, Ohio, sophomore midfielder Chris Leyland of New Hope, Penn., and sophomore defender Parker Condit of Newton, N.J. earned second team honors.

Sophomore midfielder Samson Kiberu of Waltham, Mass. and freshman goalkeeper Joe Keene of Bristol, N.H. earned honorable mention.

Condit

Lawler, in his second season with the program, earned the first Coach of the Year honor in the history of the Eagles men’s soccer program, guiding the squad to a 9-8 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in the first year of NECC play and a trip to the postseason for just the third time in program history and first time since 2002. The nine victories broke the all time program record for wins in a season, surpassing the 8-7-2 mark set by the 1993 squad in the Eagles first year of varsity play.

The seven all conference awards also set a new program season record for post-season honors. The program had earned a total of three prior all conference awards throughout its history with the last accolade coming in 1997.

Lohr started all 16 games for the Eagles, registering two goals and four assists for eight points, tying him for third in team scoring.

Bernard enjoyed a standout first season, leading the squad with eight goals and two assists for 18 points in 13 games, while Jackson finished second on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points over the span of 14 outings.

Leyland notched four goals over 13 games, while Condit added two scores in 15 games.

Kiberu was a regular starter over 15 games and helped anchor a team defense that posted a team goals against average of 1.34.

Keene started 13 games in goal, finishing with a 1.27 GAA with 48 saves over a span of 1060 minutes played. He registered a 7-4 overall record including four shutouts.
