WNEC Tops Eagles, 7-2
Sophomore Jim Maples (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) scored two goals while seniors
Kofi Oteng (Worcester, Mass.) and Scott Rogers (Middlefield, Conn.) each had
a goal and assist to lead the Western New England College men’s soccer team
past host Daniel Webster, 7-2 Saturday in a GNAC contest.
Senior Evan Heymann (Ipswich, MA) contributed two assists as the Golden
Bears (9-5-1 / 5-1 GNAC) won for the fourth time in five outings. The Eagles
remained winless (0-12 / 0-6 GNAC).
Also hitting the back of were seniors Scott Bullis (Barre, Vt.), Robbie Lees
(Warwick, N.Y.), and Tm Regan (Monroe, Conn.) added solo scores for WNEC.
Western New England College led 5-0 at halftime and 6-0 early in the second
before Kieran Thorne (Nashua, N.H.) and Dan Haynes (Downsville, N.Y.) broke
up the shutout bid with scores in the 52nd and 76th minutes, respectively.
Kyle Bak (Cumberland, R.I.) made one save in the victory, while Craig Van
Tuyl (Buffalo, N.Y.) made seven saves in the loss.
The Eagles continue a six-game homestand hosting Newbury Monday at 3:00 p.m.
