Lawler was named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Daniel Webster College
(DWC) January 10, 2007. The appointment was announced by Phil Rowe, Assistant Vice President
of Student Affairs for Athletics.
Lawler spent the previous season as Assistant Coach at Dartmouth College where
the Big Green posted a 6-8-3 mark and a 3-3-1 record in Ivy League play.
A 1998 graduate of Babson College with a degree in Business Management,
Lawler was a standout goalkeeper with the Beavers program and was named
Constitution Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in both 1996 and
1997. Lawler backstopped Babson to successive ECAC New England championship
appearances in 1996 and 1997, earning tournament MVP honors as Babson won
the 1997 title.
After graduation, the Harvard, Mass. native played professionally with the Worcester Wildfire
of the A-League in 1998, the Rhode Island Stingrays of the USISL in 1999,
and the New Hampshire Phantoms of the USISL in 2000.
Lawler spent time as Assistant Coach with his alma mater from 1998 through
2000 and again from 2003-2004, and was Assistant Coach at George Mason
University from 2001-2003.
Lawler spent one season as Head Coach at Manhattanville College, leading the
Valiants to the 2004 ECAC Metro Region Championship and most post season
wins in program history, before spending the next season at Skidmore College
as Assistant Coach.
