Eagles Drop Two To Simmons In GNAC
Openers
Boston, Mass. – The Daniel Webster softball team opened the northern slate
of its 2008 schedule, dropping a doubleheader to host Simmons, 6-1 and 8-0
Sunday afternoon at Simmons.
In the opener, Amanda Varricchio and Erin Moseley managed hits, while Tiana
Winter knocked in the lone Eagle run with an RBI ground out in the top of
the first.
Simmons took control plating one run in the first, two in the second and
another in the third.
Moseley took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs (three earned) on five
hits, striking out eight and walking four.
In the nightcap, the Sharks banged out 17 hits, scoring three in the first
and two in the third to take control. Winter managed the one Eagle hit,
while Lauren Coppola took the loss.
The Eagles moved to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in GNAC play, while Simmons improved
to 12-3 overall (4-0 GNAC).
