Balanced Eagles Power To First Ever Sweep Of Albertus
- Eagles Top Falcons For First Time Since 1999 -

Nashua – Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) allowed one run on three hits striking out eight and walking three and went 2 for 3 at the plate knocking in two, sparking Daniel Webster to a 4-1 victory over Albertus Magnus on the way to a doubleheader GNAC sweep Thursday at Eagle Field.

The wins marked the first Eagle victories over the Falcons since April 1999 and was the first ever sweep in the series history.

Lauren Coppola (Norwalk, Conn.) followed with a four-hit shutout striking out six as the Eagles took a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

Both Eagle pitchers improved to 2-3 with their respective victories.

"This was a good pair of wins for us," noted Head Coach Chris Vullo. "Our newcomers played very well. Albertus has always been a competitive program so for us to grab two wins against them speaks well to the progress we are making as a team."

The wins snapped a four game skid as the Eagles (4-8) swept a GNAC opponent for the first time since the 2002 season.

Tiana Winter (New Ispwich, N.H.) helped pace the Eagle attack in the opener, going 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, while Stephanie Zubricki (Brookline, N.H.) added two hits.

After the Eagles plated one run in the first, Albertus (1-9) tied it in the third as Elizabeth Webster (Deephaven, Minn.) scored on a double steal.

But the Eagles pulled ahead with three in the sixth keyed by Moseley and Winter, who registered RBI hits.

In the nightcap, Amanda Varricchio (Middletown, Conn.) went 3 for 3 knocking in a run while Kristina Rieger (Concord, N.H.) added two hits including a double and knocked in two. The Eagles notched three in the first and four in the second to take control, tacking on three more in the fourth to force the early game completion.

After allowing a game opening base hit, Coppola retired the next 11 batters she faced.

The Eagles travel to Mount Ida Friday for a 3:00 p.m. GNAC doubleheader and host Emmanuel Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
