Emerson Takes Two From Eagles

Nashua – Bridget Farago (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Amanda Reed (West Bridgewater, Mass.) each notched three hits, scored twice and knocked in a run leading Emerson to a 10-2 victory and complete a GNAC doubleheader sweep of host Daniel Webster Friday.

Heather Drobiarz (Old Saybrook, Conn.) earned the win (7-5) on the mound for the Lions (14-14, 12-5 GNAC), tossing a two hitter, allowing both runs, striking out six and walking five.

Sarah Mason (May Landing, N.J.) took the loss (1-8), allowing five earned runs, striking out four.

Stephanie Zubricki (Brookline, N.H.) paced the Eagles (2-12, 1-11 GNAC) with a two-run double in the fourth.

Emerson led 1-0 after one and broke the game open with six runs in the sixth keyed by three errors.

In the opener, Catie McDonough (North Adams, Mass.) paced the Lions with a 3-for-3 outing, scoring four times and knocking in two in 10-1 victory. Reed added two hits and knocked in one.

Angela Jorgensen (Dayton, Iowa) earned the win (6-6), allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out six.

Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) took the tough-luck loss, allowing just one earned run out of 10 allowed on seven hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Emerson jumped ahead 2-0 in the first keyed by an RBI double from Nikki Battaglia (Freehold, N.J.), tacked on one in the second and erupted for five in the third assisted by four Eagle errors and RBI singles from Tricia Carrabba (Sussex, N.J.) and McDonough.

Jessica Carter (Martinsburg, W.V.) accounted for the lone Eagle run in the fourth with a single, two stolen bases, and scored on an error.

The Eagles host Emmanuel Saturday at noon in a GNAC doubleheader. Emerson visits Suffolk Saturday at noon.
