Emmanuel Tops Eagles Twice

Nashua – Christine Sampson (Hull, Mass.) notched two hits and knocked in three runs while Jennifer Walsh (West Springfield, Mass.) and Erin McSheffrey (Woburn, Mass.) knocked in two more leading Emmanuel past host Daniel Webster, 12-3 completing the sweep of a GNAC doubleheader Saturday.

The wins snapped a six-game skid for the Saints (6-24, 6-12 GNAC), while the Eagles (2-14, 1-3 GNAC) dropped their fifth straight.

Stephanie Rege (Chicopee, Mass.) added two hits and scored twice, while Ashlee Tomczak (Cambridge, Mass.) earned the victory (1-6), allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking one.

Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) led the Eagles with two hits including a two-run triple, while Erin Hurd knocked in one. Sarah Mason (May Landing, N.J.) took the loss (1-9), allowing seven runs (two earned) on five hits over three innings.

The Saints scored twice in the second and broke the game open with five in the third scoring four unearned runs. Walsh led the attack with a two-run double and Rege added an RBI single. Sampson added a three-run double as part of a five-run fifth.

In the opener, Lisa Donehey (Hull, Mass.) won a tight pitcher’s duel (3-10) over Moseley, tossing a five-hit shutout, striking out six as the Saints won, 1-0.

Moseley (1-5) allowed just two hits and one unearned run, striking out six and walking one.

The Saints scored the lone run in the top of the third as Danielle Andreskiwec (Orange, Conn.) doubled in Nicole Ferraro (Lakeville, Mass.), who had reached on an error.

Stephanie Zubricki (Brookline, N.H.) led the Eagles with two hits.

Both teams are back in action Sunday as Daniel Webster visits Pine Manor and Emmanuel hosts Albertus Magnus.
