Johnson, Boyd Earn GNAC Honor Roll

Two members of the Daniel Webster College volleyball team have earned accolades from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this week.

Junior Brianna Johnson (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Ashley Boyd (Hanson, Mass.) have been named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts last week.

Johnson, a starting outside hitter, averaged 4.2 kills, 3.5 digs and .0.67 aces per game over two matches. She notched a double double of 14 kills, 10 digs (both match highs) and added four aces in an important 3-0 conference win over St. Joseph's (Conn.), and followed up with a double double of 11 kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 non-conference loss to Southern Vermont. Both matches were played Saturday, October 7th at Southern Vermont.

Through 10 matches, Johnson is averaging 2.24 kills and 2.97 digs per game, both second on the squad. She has appeared in all 37 total games for the Eagles and her kills average places her ninth among GNAC leaders.

Boyd averaged 2.5 kills, 0.91 blocks, and 0.67 digs per game over the same two matches. She notched seven kills (including just one error on 20 attempts), with two solo blocks and a serving ace in the win over St. Joseph's and added eight kills with three solo blocks in the setback to Southern Vermont.

Boyd, who has been a regular starter and has also appeared in all 37 games played, is averaging 1.38 kills per game, 1.05 serving aces and 1.32 blocks. Her blocks average places her third among GNAC leaders.

Under the tutelage of first year Head Coach Tammy Lambrou and Assistant Coach Erin Normand (former teammates at West High School in Manchester, N.H.) the Eagles stand 5-5 overall including 4-2 in the GNAC, good for fifth place, putting the squad squarely in the post-season tournament hunt.
