Eagles Earn Another Split with Albertus, WNEC
Springfield, Mass. - The Daniel Webster volleyball team kept itself in early
playoff contention earning a split as part of a GNAC tri-match Saturday at
Western New England College.
Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) notched a match high 18 kills, Kayleigh Brown
(Belmont, Mass.) dished out 18 assists, and Jessica Carter (Martinsburg,
W.V.)added 17 digs as the Eagles downed Albertus Magnus, 3-1 in the opener.
Ashley Boyd (Hanson, Mass.) added three blocks as the Eagles came from
behind to post a 26-30, 30-24, 30-25, 30-19 victory and keep the Falcons
(0-6, 0-6 GNAC) winless.
In the nightcap, the host Golden Bears (10-7, 5-0 GNAC) cruised to a 30-20,
30-19, 30-17 victory. Carter notched nine kills in the effort, with Brown
adding 11 assists, Moseley notching 16 digs and Boyd adding two blocks.
The split keeps the Eagles above .500 both overall at 5-4 and in GNAC play
at 3-2. The Eagles are off until next Saturday (10/7) when they travel to
West Hartford, Conn. to face host Saint Joseph's in a GNAC matchup along
with Southern Vermont as part of a tri-match. The SVC contest is a
non-league game as SVC is no longer a GNAC member.
