Eagles Earn Split With Simmons & St. Joseph, Ct.
(Boston, Mass.) - Jasmine Salinas (Houston, Tex.) notched a team high 11
kills and added four aces as the Daniel Webster women’s volleyball team
outlasted St. Joseph’s (Ct.), 3-2 before falling to host Simmons, 3-0 in a
GNAC tri-match Saturday afternoon. The split moved the Eagles to 2-1 overall
(1-1 GNAC).
In the Eagles opening victory, Jessica Carter (Martinsburg, W.V.) added five
kills and eight digs, while Marissa Slane (Milford, N.H.) dished out 28
assists and the Eagles rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take games four and
five, winning 21-30, 30-28, 25-30, 30-27, and 15-10.
Brianna Johnson (Nashua, N.H.) added four kills, while Kayleigh Brown
(Belmont, N.H.) added seven digs.
Tied 10-10 in the fifth game tiebreak, the Eagles rattled off five
successive points behind Jessica Booth (Westminster, Mass.) at the service
line.
In the nightcap, Ashley Boyd (Hanson, Mass.) knocked down six kills and
added eight blocks, and Carter knocked down six kills as Simmons earned a
tight 32-30, 30-27, 31-29 victory.
Slane added 15 assists and four aces, while and Salinas chipped in with five
kills and eight digs.
The Eagles are off until Tuesday when they host Johnson & Wales in a GNAC
matchup beginning at 7:00 p.m.
