Moseley Nearly Perfect As Eagles Sting Hornets, 82-65

- Senior Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) connected on 14 of 17 from the field
leading to a game high 33 points and newcomer Joyce Chagan (Boothbay, Maine)
netted 17 leading host Daniel Webster past Lyndon State, 82-65 in regional
women’s basketball action Thursday night.
Moseley added six rebounds and three blocks, while Ashley Boyd (Hanson,
Mass.) picked up 10 points and eight boards as the Eagles (7-5) halted a two
game skid.
Jennifer White (Danville, Vt.) led the Hornets (8-5) with 18 points and nine
rebounds, while Whitney Hoyt (Shaftsbury, Vt.) added 16 points and Jackie
Wetzel (Braintree, Mass.) chipped in with 12.
The Eagles sizzled in the first half, shooting a season best 65%, going 15
of 23 from the floor, building a 42-31 halftime lead. Despite cooling to 42%
in the second, the Eagles maintained control throughout after trailing early
in the first.
Nicole Conley (Hinesburg, Vt.) chipped in with eight points for the Eagles,
while Brianna DeSeignora (Medford, Mass.) and Alyssa Regan (Salem, N.H.)
added seven.
Lyndon jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening four minutes before the
Eagles slowly pulled back to tie it at 13 after two Boyd free throws.
DeSeignora followed with a layup as part of a 7-0 spurt and a 20-13 edge and
the lead would grow to as many as 15 in the first, culminating in a buzzer
beating three pointer by Conley.
Moseley, meanwhile remained a force inside. After going 6 for 7 from the
field in the first half, she opened the second with a successive jumpers to
open up a 14-point lead and added another layup with 11:47 left creating a
21-point advantage and the Eagles never let the Hornets closer than 13 the
rest of the way.
The Eagles won the battle under the boards, finishing with a 38-35 advantage
on the glass and a 36-26 advantage on points in the paint.
DWC returns to action Saturday as they host Pine Manor in a GNAC contest
tipping off at 1:00 p.m. Lyndon State travels to Paul Smith’s College
Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tilt.
