DeSeignora Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Daniel Webster women’s basketball newcomer Briana DeSeignora of Medfield, Mass. has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office.

In helping her Eagles to a 3-1 mark last week, DeSeignora averaged 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She shot 50% from the field, going 18 of 36 overall and was 4 of 4 at the free throw line.

DeSeignora opened her week with nine points and five rebounds in a 66-64 win at Eastern Nazarene November 28th and notched 14 points, four rebounds and two assists in a 65-64 win over Regis November 30th.

She followed with five points in a loss to Worcester State in the opening round of the Lady Hornet Tournament hosted by Lyndon (Vt.) State this past Saturday, but rebounded to post 13 points and four rebounds in a 58-51 consolation win over host Lyndon State this past Sunday.

Under the guidance of sixth year Head Coach Cori Hughes, the Eagles are off to a 3-2 start. DWC returns to Vagge Gymnasium Thursday, December 7th as they host longtime intrastate rival New England College at 5:00 p.m. The matchup is the first game of a women’s-men’s doubleheader with the men’s team tipping off at 7:00 p.m.

The Eagles also host Newbury this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
