Raiders Win Annual Battle of Nashua, 80-66
Box Score
Blair Carpenter nailed six three pointers as part of a game high 23 points
and Sadie Hardiman added a double double of 15 points and 11 rebounds as
Rivier topped visiting Daniel Webster, 80-66 in a matchup of crosstown GNAC
rivals Wednesday night.
The Raider win snapped a three game Eagle win streak in a series that spans
18 games dating back to 1987. Rivier leads the all time series, 10-8.
Erin Moseley led the Eagles (5-6, 0-2 GNAC) with a double double of 22
points and 16 rebounds, while Sarah Shea added 16 points including four
three pointers.
The Raiders (9-4, 1-1 GNAC) raced out to a big first half lead and were up
by as many as 22, threatening to turn the matchup into a blowout and led
46-25 at the half.
But the Eagles made things tense in the first 12 minutes of the second half
with a 13-2 run over 3:58, keyed by two Moseley layups and two threes from
Shea that whittled the lead down to 48-39.
Trailing 58-50 with 11;20 to go, Danielle Marie Carkin lofted a jumper and
Nicole Conley followed with a pretty layup in the paint to cut the lead to
58-54, and after a Hardiman jumper, Carkin answered with a three for a 60-57
game with 9:50 left.
But Carpenter went back to work from outside, nailing two big threes
including a dagger with 5:12 to go allowing the Raiders to pull back ahead
70-59, while the Eagles shooting suddenly went cold, and they pulled no
closer than 11 the rest of the way.
