(New London, Conn.) - Senior guard Alva Jeffreys was the driving force behind Mitchell’s 76-61 win over the Eagles of Daniel Webster College Thursday night at the Yarnall Athletic Center. With 29 total points, five of nine tries from behind the three-point arc, 10 of 20 from the field and 4-6 from the foul stripe, Jeffreys shot 50% from the field on the night.

The second half was a complete turnaround for the Pequots after going into the locker room at the first break down 32-27. Mitchell took its  first lead of the night five and a half minutes into the second half when Ashley Hansen hit two foul shots and followed with a quick jumper. The Pequots gained momentum and were able to keep the advantage the rest of the game, leading by as many as 19 with just of six minutes remaining.

Shayna Barnes finished with a double-double pulling down a team leading 15 rebounds and scored 10 points for the Pequots.

Daniel Webster could not cash in on two monster rebounding performances from freshman forward Ashley Boyd (Hanson, MA) and junior center Erin Moseley (Sterling, MA). Boyd collected 19 rebounds while Moseley snatched 17 boards to accompany a team-high 22 points.

Mitchell returns to action Sunday versus Lincoln University at 1:00 PM. Daniel Webster hosts Johnson & Wales Saturday at 1:00 PM.
