Box Score
Quincy, Mass. -
Emily Coole (Pepperell, Mass.) hit for 16 points including four three pointers, and Erin
Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) added a double double of 12 points, a game high 14 rebounds and
blocked six shots as the Daniel Webster women’s basketball team never
trailed and held on to nip host Eastern Nazarene, 66-64 for their first
victory of the season.
Brianna DeSeignora (Medfield, Mass.) added nine points and five boards, while Nicole Conley
(Hinesburg, Vt.) and Danielle Marie Carkin (Chelmsford, Mass.) chipped in with eight each.
Rebecca Welch notched a game high 21 points for the hosts, while Amanda
Remmel added 16. Christina Winchester chipped in with nine points and 11
boards.
The Eagles (1-1) built an 11-2 lead out of the gate over the first 6:53 of
the game, leading by as many as 11 midway through the half and took a 27-15
lead to the break. The Eagle defense limited ENC to a paltry 16% shooting
from the field (5-30).
The Eagles held a seemingly comfortable 10-point lead, 57-47 with 6:22 to
play, but the Crusaders (1-3) rallied, taking advantage of two Eagle turnovers,
three missed shots and a big three pointer from Remmel as part of an 8-0 run
to cut the lead to two, 57-55 with 4;42 left.
A DeSeignora three point play put the visitors back up, 60-55 with 3:52
left, but Welch answered with another three at the 3:38 mark to again cut
the lead to two.
But Coole nailed her final three when it mattered most 15 seconds later to
regain a 63-58 lead and the Crusaders never recovered.
The teams combined for 52 turnovers, but the Eagles won the battle of the
boards, 48-43.
