Coach Jacobs
Heather
Jacobs, a 2006 graduate of Franklin Pierce University and a native of
Stoughton, Mass., was named the fifth Head Women’s Basketball Coach at
Daniel Webster College September 10, 2007.
Jacobs, who enters the 2007-08 season as the youngest head coach across
the NCAA Division I/II/III spectrum (confirmed recently by the national
office), spent the previous season as assistant coach with DWC conference rival Norwich
University. The Lady Cadets posted a 24-4 overall mark including a 10-1
record in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, finishing
second in the regular season standings. Norwich, which led the league in total team
defense, advanced the conference tournament championship game and earned
an at large bid to the NCAA tournament.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to take over the helm of the Women’s
Basketball program at Daniel Webster,” said Jacobs. “It is an exciting
time for the Eagles program as we have five returning starters, a solid
core, and talented incoming players. The student-athletes have been
training hard in the off season and their strong work ethic will pay off
as we look to elevate ourselves in GNAC standings this season.”
Jacobs, who graduated magna cum laude in Sports and Recreation
Management with a minor in Marketing, was a two-time Northeast-10
Conference All Academic selection while at Franklin Pierce. She closed
out her collegiate career earning
Second Team All Conference accolades while leading the team in scoring
and the NE-10 in free throw shooting. She also earned
Most Valuable Player accolades at the 2006 ECAC Division II
championships, leading the Ravens to the tournament title.
A two time captain and team most valuable player as a junior and senior,
Jacobs retired 20th all time in career scoring, 19th in rebounding and
collected more than 100 steals and 129 assists over her four seasons.
