Eagles Get First Win of Season in Overtime, 2-1
Longmeadow, Mass. -- Junior Rachel Schelhorn buried Kim Lemire's
cross pass from 10 yards out 1:26 into overtime, giving the visiting Daniel
Webster College Eagles their first victory of the season and first in NECC
play, 2-1 over Bay Path Saturday.
The game winner ended a defensive affair that included the first two goals
of the game coming just 1:48 apart in the first half.
Eagle newcomer Alexa Quintiliani put the Eagles in front at the 27 minute
mark off a TC DiSantis pass for a 1-0 advantage, before the Wildcats tied it
on a Jacqui Siddle unssisted score at 28:48.
The game remained tied despite the Eagles finishing with a 12-5 (7-4 SOG)
shots advantage and a 6-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Amy Waller earned the win for the Eagles in goal, recording three saves,
while Samantha Gunseth took the loss, finishing with five saves.
The Eagles (1-2, 1-0 NECC) return to action Monday when they travel to Regis for a 4:00 p.m.
