Green Mountain Wins Battle of Eagles, 2-0

Nashua - Taylor Riso (Portland, Ore.) notched one goal and set up another leading the Green Mountain College women’s soccer team past host Daniel Webster College, 2-0 Tuesday in a matchup of regional Eagle programs at Eagle Field.

Amanda Jeffers (Homer, N.Y.) added a single score while Karen Davidson (Seymour, Conn.) made two saves as the Eagles moved to 6-5 overall.

Amy Waller (Berlin, Mass.) made eight saves for Daniel Webster, which dropped to 4-5 overall.

The teams looked to be heading to halftime scoreless, but Jeffers broke through with a 25-yard bending shot off a Riso feed with just 15 seconds to go before the break.

Reso upped it to 2-0, poking home a Deidre Bailey (Sterling, Mass.) short pace from in close with 31:11 remaining in the second half.

Green Mountain finished with a 16-6 total shots advantage.

Daniel Webster returns to action Thursday when they travel to New England College for a 3:30 p.m. matchup. Green Mountain travels to Husson College Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. North Atlantic Conference contest.
