Second Half Rally Carries Eagles Past Newbury, 3-1

Nashua - The Daniel Webster College women’s soccer team notched three second half scores and halted a three-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Newbury College in a New England Collegiate Conference contest Saturday at Eagle Field.

Rachel Schelhorn (Lebanon, Conn.) broke a 1-1 tie with a breakaway score in the 59th minute and TC DiSantis (Hinsdale, Mass.) added an insurance goal with 4:31 remaining as the Eagles (5-6) improved to 3-2 in conference play.

Newbury (2-10, 0-4 NECC) forged ahead in the 28th minute as Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) set up Ashley Greene-Allen (Brockton, Mass.) off a two-on-one break and the Nighthawks held a 1-0 lead at the half.

Kim Lemire (Merrimack, N.H.) finally solved Nighthawks keeper Rachel Wyszynski (Wilbraham, Mass.) with an unassisted tally in the 50th minute, setting the stage for Schelhorn’s eventual game winner.

Amy Waller (Berlin, Mass.) finished with three saves for the Eagles, who host intracity rival Rivier Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

Wyszynski finished with 11 saves for Newbury, which hosts Salem State Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
