Hurd's Overtime Score Boots Eagles Into Playoffs, 4-3

- With Information From Mitchell Sports Information -
New London, Conn. – Senior Erin Hurd’s second goal of the game five minutes into overtime delivered the Daniel Webster women’s soccer team a 4-3 victory over host Mitchell College Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Alexa Quintiliani added a goal and assist as the Eagles (6-7) clinched just their second playoff berth in program history and first since 2002, as they improved to 4-2 in NECC play with two league games remaining in the regular season. The Eagles moved into third place, a half game ahead of Mitchell and Becker (3-2-1).

Hurd got the Eagles going with her first of the day 30 minutes into the first half, before the Mariners (5-8-1, 3-2-1 NECC) bounced back with scores in the 37th and 39th minute to hold a 2-1 lead at the break.

The Eagles tied it six minutes into second half off a Quintiliani score off a Rachel Schelhorn feed and regained the lead two minutes later as Quintiliani returned the favor setting up Schelhorn.

Mitchell would force overtime with 20 minutes remaining in regulation, leading to Hurd’s gamer.

The Eagles host Wheelock College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in an NECC matchup.
