Because Daniel Webster College CARES

CARES (Crime Awareness and Response Education Services) is a comprehensive crime prevention initiative that has been pioneered by DWC Department of Campus Safety.  It has long been the primary goal of Campus Safety to promote a safe and crime free environment for students, faculty, and staff.

One that fosters an educational experience and supports the colleges mission to encourage not just a campus but a community.  CARES is a multifaceted approach to an increased awareness and to develop a safe response to crime.  CARES knows that crime prevention is everyone's responsibility and embraces the following philosophy: Awareness- The best way to prevent people from becoming victims of crime is to make them aware of the inherent risks of crime and to enhance this awareness through the use of presentations, literature, and fostering group discussions. Response- Once the inherent risks of crime have been uncovered, Campus Safety encourages an appropriate response to these risks, which emphasizes personal safety.  Synergistically, awareness and proper response can be a highly effective tool in battling a potential crime. CARES works with DWC administration, Campus Safety, Buildings and Grounds, Student Affairs, and the community to provide safety educational opportunities to all those who utilize the campus.

CARES also provides safety presentations specific to the needs of students as requested during hall meetings and gatherings through out the academic year.

DWC community members should frequently visit the Campus Safety web page to view current safety tips and campus wide alerts and bulletins as well as general information on Campus Safety and other services that we provide.  Our website is continually updated to meet the demands of the campus and for the convenience of our students.
