Daniel Webster College

Student Health Center

General Information
The Health Center was established in September of 1986. The function of the Health Center is to assist the DWC student in maintaining a good state of health. We believe that in order for a student to function successfully in a college setting, the student must be physically and mentally healthy. We believe that good health, which includes social and emotional adjustment as well as physical health, is essential to the learning and growth which takes place on a college campus.

We believe that a state of wellness can be obtained by encouraging you to be an active participant in your health care and giving you the tools to achieve this.

The Health Center is a supportive and facilitating resource through which your wellness can be enhanced, enabling you to get the most out of your education here at Daniel Webster College.

Ambulatory Services
Walk-in care is provided primarily by a nurse practitioner, with help from a registered nurse, who are on campus 34 hours each week.  Services provided include diagnosis and treatment of common, acute illnesses and injuries; management and follow-up of chronic illnesses; evaluation and treatment of common mental health concerns; and a wide array of health education.  The Health Center also arranges referrals to appropriate specialists in the Nashua area.

Lab tests, x-rays, immunizations, and prescription medications are available at cost to the student and may require the student to travel off campus.  When applicable the cost for these services will be billed to the student's health insurance.

Emergency Services
The Health Center staff is available to evaluate emergency situations and to stabilize the student until transportation to one of the local emergency rooms can be arranged. When there is an emergency during the night or weekend, a resident assistant or security officer should be contacted; or a student can directly call 911.

Counseling Services
Counseling services are available, at no cost, to all full time Daniel Webster College students.

Counseling Services are located on the first floor of the Library in the Student Success Center.  Students use counseling to address stress and adjustment issues, personal identity issues, grief, depression and mental illness.  Services are confidential unless a student is in danger of hurting him/herself or others.

Appointments can be made by contacting Counseling Services (603)577-6041.  The Counseling Center also provides consultation with parents and faculty.
