Scope|Subject Headings|Overview Sources|Circulating Books|Periodicals, Journals & Trade Publications|Websites

SCOPE:  The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination based on race, color, national origin, and sex in government programs, public facilities, and employment. (Palmisano, World of Sociology) Affirmative action programs have fostered respect for diversity in the workplace and in all other aspects of life. Recently, debates have ensued over racial minorities being underrepresented at college. The question arises as to whether colleges should consider race in admissions decisions.
