Scope:  Margaret Atwood is a Canadian writer whose most famous work is The Handmaid's Tale. In this novel she explores the themes of alienation and the need for human community. Her works are very popular with feminist readers. Atwood was the recipient of numerous prizes and was named Woman of the Year by MS Magazine.
