SCOPE: Autism is a psychiatric disorder that occurs in children during the first three years of development. According to the American Psychiatric Association, this disorder is characterized by certain factors which include a failure to develop normal social relationships, failure to develop language or communication skills, and the use of repetitive behavior and lack of a normal imagination.
