Why a banner?
A banner is
an image that can be added above the Announcements in Blackboard. Because the Announcements page is usually set
as the page you enter the course you see the banner when you first log on.
Adding a
banner or title to your course is a good idea. It adds visually to the course,
it can set a mood and it helps students who have more than one Blackboard
course remember which course they are in. Moreover, it shows you care about the
site.
Here are a
couple examples of banners that can easily be accomplished with clip art.
You can
even use just text, using the Paint program in Windows Accessories:

Directions
The banner
must be in a single file. A jpeg file is highly recommended or the page will
take too long to load.
To add a
banner to your Announcements page, go to the Control Panel.
On
the Course Options menu, click on Course
Design
Click
Course Banner.
Browse
to where your file is stored and click on it.
Then
click Submit
