Using Assignments in BlackBoard

Introduction
The Assignment item type is a way for instructors to distribute assignments and for students to hand them in and get them back that vastly cuts down on the amount of time needed to do file transfer tasks.  The assignment automatically creates an item in the gradebook and individual assignments go straight to the
grade book and are stored there, attached to the student's name. The instructor can download the file, correct it and return it graded, all from the same screen.

Use the “Add Assignments” item type when

  • You want the student’s file to come direct to you
  • You want to be able to easily comment on the answers, return the comments with a grade
  • You want the grade to go automatically into the gradebook
  • You want to avoid a “traffic tie-up” in your digital drop box
