Interested in learning how to teach online?

A 4 week online course, Teaching Online Using Blackboard, is offered at Daniel Webster College. The next course is

January 6 - February 3, 2008

Course Description  - Explore online learning and teaching in a supportive group. Create engaging interactive learning activities in a Blackboard environment.  Practice setting up Discussion forums and announcements and devising and deploying tests.

Text -  No required text. All readings available in the course.

Time commitment - Expect to spend at least ten hours a week completing activities for the course.

Outcomes - On completion of the "Teaching Online" class participants will be able to:

  • Design and facilitate asynchronous learning activities in Blackboard.
  • Implement assessment methods for an online course
  • Analyze and discuss the differences between traditional learning activities and online learning activities.
  • Keep the student’s perspective in mind when creating and managing a course.

Cost - None to faculty and staff of Daniel Webster College. $249 to others.

Certificate - The course carries no credit but a certificate is given to those that successfully complete the requirements.
