SCOPE: Studies suggest that conduct disorder is one of the most prevalent of the mental health problems in the United States. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, conduct disorder is characterized by a consistent pattern of behavior in which the basic rights of others or the norms of society are violated. These behaviors also cause significant impairment in social, academic, and occupational functioning. ( Kazdin, Encyclopedia of Psychology)
