PATHFINDER: NEUROSCIENCE (THE BRAIN)

Scope|Subject Headings|Overview Sources|Circulating Books|Periodicals, Journals & Trade Publications|Web Sites

SCOPE: The relationship between neuroscience and behavior and its role in the realm of psychology is strongly evident. The mechanisms and organization of behavior are embedded in the operations of the brain. (Kazdin, Encyclopedia of Psychology). Many psychiatric disorders are now viewed as brain-based disorders and biological treatments for these disorders are now being sought. The purpose of this pathfinder is not intended as a comprehensive listing of all the resources available in the library, but as a selective sampling of the many types of materials available.

Books dealing with the brain and neuroscience are listed in the Baddour Library’s online catalog under the following subject headings:

SUBJECT HEADINGS

Neurosciences—History
Cognitive neuroscience
Thought and thinking
Brain—Physiological aspects

There are sources located in the Reference Section of the Baddour Library that give a general overview or summary of the topic you are researching. The following is a list of some of the sources available in the library.
