Scope: Upton Sinclair was a playwright who put himself through school writing comic papers and dime novels. He continued writing while pursuing a career in politics. IN 1932 he was nominated for a Nobel Prize. In 1943 he won the Pulitzer Prize for Dragons Teeth. His international bestseller The Jungle explored the horrendous working conditions in
Chicago's meat-packing plants.
