Having Trouble Logging in From Home?

Are you entering your name correctly?

Enter your name as last name only. Do not enter lastname_firstname, as you would to log in to Blackboard or to your campus e-mail. Do not enter your first name at all.

Are you entering your barcode correctly?

Enter the entire 9-digit from the bottom of your student ID card. Do not omit any zeroes. Do not allow any spaces between the numbers. If your barcode is less than 9 digits long, add leading zeroes to the existing numbers until you have 9 digits. If you don't have an ID and don't know what your barcode is, please call the library at 577-6559 (6559 on campus) and once we have verified your identity, we can provide this for you.

Are you using AOL?

Version 7 and 8 and higher of AOL are compatible with our system. But if you're using an older version, you will need to either: 1) upgrade to the latest version of AOL, or 2) minimize AOL and bring up the Internet Explorer browser to use the databases.

Are you using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.02 or higher or the Netscape browser version 3.0 or higher?

If you are using a browser that is any older, you can't access the databases. You will need to upgrade to a more current version of the browser.

Are the privacy settings in your browser set to "high"?

You may have trouble logging in if you have your browser set this way. To check your settings, on the Internet Explorer toolbar, go to Tools > Internet Options, and then click the "Privacy" tab. Set this to medium high or lower in order to be able to log in.

Are you getting an error message?

If you are getting an error message that says, "Sorry, cannot locate patron record," please call the library at (603) 577-6559. Have your ID card handy, and we should be able to add you into our database in a matter of minutes.

Are you using Comcast as your Internet service provider?

During peak internet usage times, Comcast uses a proxy to alleviate some of the network traffic. The library uses a proxy as well to authenticate off-campus patrons; this can create a situation where a user is being "double-proxied," and therefore cannot access the library's resources. The best recourse for this is to try to log on to the database during times where Internet traffic on the Comcast network is not so heavy.

Another problem with Comcast can be the "Parental Controls" within the Comcast software. A setting of anything lower than "Adult" in this area can prevent a user from being able to log in to the library's databases.

Is this your last class at Daniel Webster College?

If you are taking your last class, but have already walked at a commencement ceremony, your status in our records may have already shifted over to alumni, which would prevent you from accessing the databases. If you are in this situation, please call the library at (603) 577-6559 (6559 on campus) to let us know, and we can correct our records to give you access to the databases.
