| SCOPE: Elie Wiesel is a Jewish writer whose own personal experiences during and after the Holocaust became the sources of information for his books. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Jewish Heritage Award (1966) for excellence in literature for his work Dawn and the Accident as well as the Nobel Peace Prize. (1986) His message to mankind is one of peace, atonement, and human dignity.
