Scope: Thomas Wolfe's novels are fictional accounts of his life at his home in Ashville North Carolina. His autobiographical novel Look Homeward Angel is a blatant criticism of Southern society. This attack angered many people and critics challenged his abilities as a writer. However, one could not dismiss his celebration of American and European life in his works.
