Daniel Webster College hosts
WASP Eleanor Collins Faust
Wed., April 6th,
7 p.m.
To
speak about her time as a BT-13 and AT-6 pilot during WWII
The
Arnold Air Society is honoring our Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP)
on Wednesday, April 6th, at 7:00 pm in Daniel Webster College’s
Collings Auditorium. WWII pilot Eleanor Collins Faust will be honored and
sharing stories about her time as a BT-13 (basic trainer) and AT-6
(advanced trainer) pilot based to Waco Army Air Field Base, Texas. The
public is invited to this free presentation hosted by Daniel Webster
College.
True WWII heroes,
WASPS are often a forgotten part of our history; they were used as
examples to fly B-26 and B-29 bombers to prove to male pilots they were
safe to fly. Other accomplishments include: being the first women in
America’s history to fly American military aircraft; voluntarily putting
their lives “on the line” in an experimental program to prove that women
could successfully fly military aircraft; in fewer than two years, WASP
flew 60 million miles in every type aircraft – from the fastest fighters
to the heaviest bombers; flying every type of mission any Army Fir Force
male pilot flew during WWII, except combat; WASP were stationed at 20 Army
Air Bases across America; freed male pilots for combat; are role models
for today’s female pilots and astronauts; forever changed the role of
women in aviation.
This program will
appeal to anyone with an interest in history, the military, and aviation.
Come learn about your country’s history and hear from a World War II
