EMT-Basic Program
at Daniel Webster College begins August 30
Daniel Webster College is offering a
15-week Emergency Medical Technician–Basic Program, beginning August 30
and running through December 11, 2006.
The non-credit course, held on Monday
and Wednesday nights, 6-10 p.m. at the college, is approved by the U.S.
Department of Transportation and Fire Standards and Training and EMS.
The program includes basic EMT
concepts in regard to anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies,
emergency driving, CPR, and more. By the conclusion of the 120-hour
program, students will have a functional understanding of the basic
concepts of pre-hospital emergency medicine and life saving skills, as
well as health and safety education topics.
Lifeguards, Firefighters, Ambulance
personnel, wilderness camps and programs, police officers, industrial
first aid teams, Ski Patrollers, and those who have an interest in any
of the above fields should consider taking this program, said
Christopher Rousseau, New Hampshire EMS Licensed Instructor Coordinator.
Perhaps the biggest advantage for
persons to take the EMT-Basic Program is moving in the right direction
toward the EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic Programs, where there are
many full and part-time paid opportunities for these levels of
certifications in New Hampshire and surrounding states.
Maximum enrollment for the EMT Basic
course is 20 students. The
program’s cost, which includes the textbook and study
guides, is $750
(There is a separate fee for the cost of the National Registry
testing and exam at the conclusion of the course).
