Tom Neary ’88 Named
Daniel Webster College 2007 "Distinguished Alumnus"
(Nashua)
— Merrimack’s Thomas R. Neary, a 1988 graduate of Daniel Webster
College, was honored during Daniel Webster (DWC) commencement ceremonies
earlier this month as the recipient of the “Distinguished Alumnus
Award.”
The award is presented
to a Daniel Webster graduate for continuing service to the college.
Said Daniel Webster
President Robert E. Myers, “Tom has exhibited a unique enthusiasm and
devotion to Daniel Webster College and has inspired many others to
become involved. He has shared his talent and given countless hours to
ensure the alumni programs are enjoyable and successful … Tom has always
given his all to Daniel Webster College.”
Tom graduated with a
Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management/flight operations and
was commissioned a 2nd Lt., USAF. He returned to DWC as a
certified flight instructor from 1991 until 1994. Since then, he has had
a successful and diversified flight career. He is now a corporate
captain with TAG Aviation USA, out of Bedford, MA.
When DWC’s Alumni
Association formed the 15-member Alumni Council in 2003, Tom was one of
the first to step up, immediately taking on leadership of the group and
volunteering to chair one of the committees. His contributions helped
this group become the most active alumni group in DWC history.
Tom has had the most
impact with the Annual Alumni Golf Tournament. As a result of his hard
work and commitment to the first three tournaments, the DWC Alumni
Scholarship Fund has raised more than $22,000; Tom is already at work on
the next Alumni Golf Tournament slated for September 17, 2007, at
Souhegan Woods Golf Club in Amherst.
