THE "Father of Video Games" will converse with Avi Nelson April 12 at Daniel Webster College event, with a book signing to follow

Manchester resident Ralph Baer will talk about his career at 7:30 PM event

Daniel Webster College is proud to bring Ralph Baer to the Collings Auditorium at its Nashua campus on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 pm as part of its MBA Lecture Series. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:00 pm and seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For information call 603-577-6625.

Baer and guest interviewer Avi Nelson, political analyst and commentator — who himself holds degrees in electrical engineering and applied physics — will have a conversation about Baer’s career, covering 65 years of active development and production of commercial and military electronics resulting in 150 issued patents world-wide and many inventions — including the home videogame which he created while he was at Sanders Associates — as well as Baer's involvement with new product development that continues to this day.

Baer is also expected to demonstrate the very first home console for video games, Odyssey, which he developed while working for Sanders Associates in Nashua in the 1960s. Odyssey, which included the world's first video games and was the first game system, launched what is now a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry.

Baer was recently honored by the President at the White House with the National Medal of Technology. His book, Videogames: In the Beginning, will be available for purchase at a book signing following the 7:30 program.

The Daniel Webster College MBA Management Lecture Series annually brings speakers of note to enhance the intellectual diversity of Daniel Webster undergraduate and graduate students and the community. Previous speakers have included Tim Brier, co-founder of Priceline.com and Dave Silk, consultant and member of the gold-winning US Olympic Hockey Team of 1980.
