(Nashua, N.H.) – Daniel Webster College’s faculty and staff were out in force to welcome the college’s new president, Dr. Robert E. (Skip) Myers.

Dr. Myers and his wife Gretchen introduced themselves, shook hands and shared stories as they mingled among the crowd during a welcome reception held in Daniel Webster Hall.

“My family and I are very excited to be at Daniel Webster College (DWC) and living in Nashua,” said Dr. Myers. “Gretchen and I were overwhelmed with the number of people, many of whom took time away from their own vacations, who were here to welcome us to our new ‘home.’”

Myers’ most recent post was as chancellor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s (ERAU) extended campus, where he executed initiatives to improve the quality and currency of both faculty and curricula. Equally committed to the needs of students, Dr. Myers launched and raised seed funding and corporate support for the development and implementation of an extensive scholarship program.

Prior to ERAU, under his strategic leadership as executive vice president and chief operating officer at University of Maryland University College (UMUC), Dr. Myers achievements included overseeing global implementation of a $40 million management information system, co-founding a for-profit affiliated spin-off corporation, and developing entrepreneurial relationships with the U.S. Armed Forces.

In accepting the presidential post at Daniel Webster College earlier this year, Dr. Myers noted that Daniel Webster College maintains an enormously successful reputation in its aviation-related programs, as well as respect in its specific efforts to reach out and broaden its curricular activities, particularly in the expansion of its acclaimed two year engineering program to a four year baccalaureate degree in aeronautical and mechanical engineering just this year. Additionally, Daniel Webster College is leading the way in providing distinctive opportunities for adult learners through its accelerated MBA program, a new Air Traffic Management evening program, and an online MBA in Aviation slated to start in January 2006.

What particularly attracted Myers to Daniel Webster was its commitment to “being a stellar teaching college.”  That, and the sense of excitement within the DWC community about the institution’s future. “There is a real sense of excitement on campus about the possibilities for the future. This institution is a special place whose brightest days are ahead.”
