Daniel Webster College/Alvirne High School F.I.R.S.T. robotics team gains new sponsor
Manchester Technology Company partners with team

February 17, 2005 (Nashua, NH) –  The Alvirne High School/Daniel Webster College F.I.R.S.T. Robotics team is pleased to announce the involvement of a major new sponsor. Interpose, LLC of Manchester, New Hampshire recently became a financial supporter of the team, which will enable Alvirne High School P.A.R.T.S. Team 42 to compete in both Manchester and Philadelphia this year.

F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a multi-national non profit organization, founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen. The annual robotics competition teams professionals and students to solve an engineering design problem, culminating in regional and national competitions as exciting as any large scale sporting event. The intent of F.I.R.S.T, according to founder Dean Kamen, is “to create a world where science and technology are celebrated . . .where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.”

Corporate support and mentoring are a big part of what F.I.R.S.T. is all about, and Interpose, LLC joins with many Fortune 500 companies in providing funding and volunteers to support the program.

Daniel Webster College is a long time partner with Alvirne High School. Staff and students also offer their time and talents to the F.I.R.S.T. program each year. Craig Putnam, an instructor in the college’s Engineering/Math/Science Division said, “The Alvirne High School/Daniel Webster College F.I.R.S.T. Robotics team P.A.R.T.S. is very excited about the involvement of Interpose – our newest sponsor. The financial backing of Interpose has made it possible for the team to travel to an additional regional competition this spring in Philadelphia. We look forward to an ongoing and mutually beneficial relationship.” Putnam has been an adult mentor for the Alvirne High School team for many years.

Ken Steinberg, Chief Technology Officer and founder of Interpose, LLC said, “Competitions such as F.I.R.S.T. lay the groundwork for innovative thinking in a team environment. This is exactly the type of mindset the business world cherishes and desperately needs.”

“Being engineers, we naturally gravitate to programs like F.I.R.S.T.,” Steinberg said. “We take immense pleasure in watching the students go through the process of problem solving in a competitive environment.”

Interpose, LLC is a privately funded and held company, with a core mission of protecting the world’s technology infrastructures by eliminating the spread of computer viruses in any operating system. The company recently released their pioneering new technology, Savant™, eradicating the need for and reliance on the traditional approach of using reactive inoculations and cumbersome, persistent media scanning.  The company will soon host a ‘Hackers Challenge’ at Daniel Webster College.
