R.C. Gorman holds first exhibit in New England

May 5, 2004 - Collectors and admirers of R.C. Gorman and
Southwestern art from around New England are
expected to converge on Daniel Webster College's
Nashua campus Thursday, May 13, for a highly
anticipated reception and book signing. Free and
open to the public, this is Gorman's very first
exhibition in New England; his work has not been on
display in Boston or even in New York City.
The Radiance of My
People, a
full-color book featuring Gorman's art, is available
for purchase (and signing) for $40, and will be
available during or prior to the reception at the
college's Eaton-Richmond Center Gallery. Gorman's
many fans may bring their own Gorman books for him
to sign (his books include four different editions
of R.C. Gorman's Nudes and Foods, as well as
R.C. Gorman, Thirty Years in Taos, which
includes his complete works in bronze. A limited
number of unframed Gorman posters will also be
available that evening to purchase and have signed.
The college is
hosting an exhibition of some 20 pieces of Gorman's
art through May 16. The exhibit includes a variety
of media, including original lithographs, acrylic on
canvas, paper casting, and a bronze. Gallery hours
at the Eaton-Richmond Center Gallery are weekends 10
am - 6 pm; weekdays noon-8 -pm.
R.C. Gorman is
being recognized for his work in the arts with an
honorary doctor of letters at Daniel Webster's
commencement Saturday, May 15.
