DWC's ACE Camp helps
dreams take off
The opportunity to
actually fly an aircraft is a rare offering at summer
camp -- but 125 teens did just that at Daniel Webster
College's annual ACE Camp. There the high schools
students learned about opportunities in aviation fields,
flight training, and leadership, and were able to take
off and land a Cessna 172.

Helicopter Parents

IT’S RIGHT ABOUT NOW, in these final weeks of
summer, that many parents are forced to cope with a
long-anticipated heartbreak. This is the time when
mothers and fathers across the country are saying
good-bye to their college-bound children and trying, one
way or another, to confront the difficult task of
letting go.

Add vaccinations to college students’ to-do list
NASHUA
– When it comes to routine immunizations, Allen Dunn, a
21-year-old senior at Daniel Webster College, knows the
drill: take the school health form to the doctor’s
office, get the shot and get on with life.
“You deal with it once and knock it off the things-to-do
list,” said Dunn, an aviation flight operations major
and resident assistant.

When they return to
school this fall, air traffic management students at
Daniel Webster College (DWC) will be training on
equipment for use in ATC training installed just
this summer at its Nashua campus by UFA, Inc., of
Woburn, MA.

Teens
soar at DWC flight camp
While many of
the nation's teenagers are enjoying their summer break
from school, a select group from all over the country
were taking advantage of an opportunity at Daniel
Webster College that not many of their peers will ever
experience: they were taking off, flying, and landing a
Cessna 172 aircraft out of Boire Airport in Nashua.

Announces Online MBA for Aviation Professionals
Daniel Webster College
will introduce a new online MBA program geared to
aviation professionals. The program, to be offered
entirely online, is designed to give individuals in
the aviation industry the broad foundation of a
traditional MBA, but also the opportunity to better
understand the aviation industry and build
relationships with industry professionals.

students pose as software hackers
As part of his efforts to make sure Savant is
secure, Interpose founder and Chief Technology
Officer Ken Steinberg enlisted a group of students
from nearby Daniel Webster College to act as
hackers. Students worked with faculty and Interpose
personnel to test and push Savant to extremes.

Q&A with: Daniel
Webster College President Hannah McCarthy
When
Hannah McCarthy was an undergraduate at Simmons College
in Boston, she gave no thought to a career in education.
At the end of June, McCarthy, 58, will retire after 25
years as president of Daniel Webster College in Nashua.

Midon elected to DWC board
William J. Midon of Concord, MA joins the DWC
Board of Trustees. A lawyer, businessman, and investor,
Midon also is an avid aviator piloting both fixed-wing
turbo prop airplanes and piston helicopters.

2005 commencement includes first MBA degrees
DWC celebrated a milestone commencement with 44
students receiving MBA degrees for the first time in the
College's history. Jeremy Paskali of Nashua
addressed the crowd as valedictorian. Keynote
speaker John Goglia advised graduates to use their
hearts when deciding a career path - "you are not
choosing a career, you're choosing a life."

names Dr. Robert Myers new president
For Robert “Skip” Myers, it feels like he just won a new
car, and now he’s hoping to get to work on it as soon as
possible.
“One of the major challenges that I’m facing will be
getting under the hood and poking around and getting a
feel for what we need to do,” Myers said of being named
the next president of Daniel Webster College.

certificate in computer game development
Taking advantage of its leadership in computers and
technology, Daniel Webster College is offering a
Computer Game Development Certificate that builds the
skills individuals need to develop computer graphics,
multimedia, and games software. As the only program of
its kind in New England, the certificate, with its six
3-credit classes held during the evening, is creating
opportunities in a cutting-edge industry for individuals
whose interest lie in computer game development.

College hosts Networks' "Meet the Artists"
These artists are clients at NETWorks - Nashua
Employment & Training Works - a nonprofit agency
that helps developmentally disabled adults get jobs,
learn life and social skills, and makes a priority
of getting them out into the community. They’re
going to do a show, and kick it off with a gala
meet-the-artists opening at Daniel Webster College,
Sunday, March 20, from 2-5 p.m. at the Eaton
Richmond Center Gallery.
