Daniel Webster's "Bid for Excellence" Scholarship Auction draws the unusual and unique

Seventh annual auction raises money for student scholarships at Daniel Webster College

February 8, 2005 – Do two tickets to one of the Red Sox-Yankees opening season series games pique your interest? Or do two 2005 Patriot tickets versus Buffalo, or four Patriots tickets to another 2005 game? Or perhaps a framed R. C. Gorman lithograph, or four weekends of relaxation, one for each season of the year, in a luxurious Cambridge, Mass. condo, complete with parking, are more to your taste. These and oh-so-many-more unique trips and items will be up for bid on Saturday, March 5 at Daniel Webster College's seventh annual "Bid for Excellence" Scholarship Auction at the College's Vagge Gymnasium in Nashua.

Starting at 5:30 pm, the black-tie (optional) gala includes dinner, a silent auction (featuring such notable auction items as tickets to sought-after sporting events), and the much anticipated live auction staged by renowned auctioneer Paul Zekos, which will include auction items such as exotic jewelry, wonderful oriental rugs, and vacations in far-away places like Vail, Colorado and Santa Fe, N.M. Other live auction items include lunch with Senator Gregg in Washington, breakfast with Governor Lynch, and 5-nights in a West Palm Beach 19th floor penthouse condominium.

When the bidding is complete, the College expects to raise tens of thousands of dollars for student scholarships. Tickets are $100 per person and can be reserved by contacting Cynthia Stewart at steward@dwc.edu or 603-577-6622. All items offered at the auction have been donated by the College's magnanimous friends.

The "Bid For Excellence" Scholarship Auction annually provides a significant contribution towards the future of many Daniel Webster students, 85% of whom receive institutional financial assistance. This one night plays an important role in ensuring that deserving young people have access to the quality education that is so important in laying the solid foundation they will need to build their future and reach their dreams.
