Pianist George Lopez April 17

 

International concert pianist George Lopez is playing a piano concert at Daniel Webster College’s Collings Auditorium Sunday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in celebration of Hannah McCarthy’s 25th anniversary as President of the College.

 

George Sebastian Lopez has been heard by audiences around the globe and hailed as “one of the best solo and chamber musicians of his generation.” A frequent guest of the Montclaire and Rainier String Quartets of Charleston and Seattle, he has also performed with the Emerson String Quartet, Incanto Ensemble of Munich, and Trio of the Americas in New York City with whom he will do the complete trios of Beethoven in the next two concert seasons. Mr. Lopez is scheduled to record the Rachmaninov Sonata for Cello and Piano op.19 this April with Walter Gray, member of the Seattle Symphony and original founding member of the renowned Kronos Quartet. He is playing Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G minor op.25 and the Quintet in F minor op.35 this spring in Rochester, NY and throughout New England.

George Lopez is on the faculty of the Manchester Community Music School and Phillips-Exeter Academy, where he is presently director of chamber music for the Phillips-Exeter Academy Summer School Program. Mr. Lopez is a regular faculty member of the Kinhaven summer chamber music camp for adults in Vermont and a guest artist with the New Hampshire Music Festival Chamber Players in Plymouth, NH.
