Daniel
Webster College Announces New Aviation Chair

3, 2003 - Daniel Webster College (DWC) President Hannah
M. McCarthy announced the appointment of Phillip J.
Poynor, J.D. as associate professor of aviation and
chair of the college's aviation division.
Poynor
comes to DWC following 14 years as a member of the
Farmingdale State University of New York faculty. He
earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech
University, a master's in business administration from
DePaul University, and a juris doctorate from New York's
St. John's University.
Poynor
is a rated airline transport pilot and a gold seal and
master certified flight. From 1970-1981 he worked
in flight crew administration for TWA. He serves
on the board of the National Association of Flight
Instructors and was previously the chair of the National
Air Transportation Association's flight training
committee. Poynor recently had his designation as
a Master CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) renewed by
the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI),
his professional aviation education organization. He is
one of only three New Hampshire educators with this
designation.
Poynor
is a seasoned educator and aviator and last year
published the textbook Air Carrier Operations,
Iowa State Press. Additionally, he was the vice
president, general manager and co-owner of Nassau
Flyers, a large, independent flight school on Long
Island. Nassau Flyers has been recognized for its
excellent reputation and customer service, and in 1998,
Poyner was the recipient of the National Air
Transportation Association's "Excellence in Pilot
Training Award" for his work at Nassau Flyers.
At
DWC Poynor will teach air carrier operations as well as
other aviation courses. He will also be engaged in
on-going curriculum review of the flight program, the
development of a professional advisory board for
aviation, and advise the college's vice president of
academic affairs on aviation affairs. |
