DWC’s “Issues in Aviation” presents former Delta Airlines Atlanta
Chief Pilot on 9/11, Alan W. Price, on “Leadership for a Time of Crisis”

(Nashua, NH) — Daniel Webster College’s (DWC) 2006 “Issues in Aviation” speaker is no stranger to crisis. He was Chief Pilot in Atlanta for Delta Airlines on 9/11 and since his retirement, has presented and consulted for a variety of institutions on risk management, leadership development, and human factors.

DWC’s March 30 program, “Leadership for a Time of Crisis,” will focus on dealing with crisis as a future possibility — preparation — and present reality — participation. Capt. Price will discuss key leadership behaviors which aid in preparation for and leading through a crisis. The events of 9/11 represented a life-changing event for Capt. Price, and many of his current interests have been shaped by the challenges of those days. The workshop will be interactive, thought-provoking, and most of all, fun,

In addition to his extensive portfolio of post-“retirement” work, Captain Alan W. Price is recognized for his skills and specialties in a variety of areas, including CRM course development; training, design and implementation of CRM programs; human factors analysis; conducting line-oriented safety audits; and his work as a professional speaker and workshop leader.

Capt. Price’s flying experience spans five decades, including military and civilian airline aircraft. He’s been the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, USAF Command Pilot Wings, and numerous outstanding unit and presidential citations.

He attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he earned a baccalaureate degree in engineering science; USAF Flight School; Georgia State University from which he holds an M.S., Decision Science; and has conducted post-graduate work at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an active author, with nine professional publications. Capt. Price and his wife Marlee reside in Marietta, Ga.
